Brilliant Beach Activities You Have to Try This Year

Photos from my Hawaiian holiday

Who doesn’t love a trip to the beach? Vacations are all about soaking up the sun, dipping your toes into the sea and breathing in that fresh salty air. Whether you’re planning your next big getaway or you’re a thrill seeker who has a need for speed, there are so many amazing activities you can do at the beach this year. Some of these ideas might sound a little crazy at first, but there is so much useful information out there that will help you to make your decision.

Add all of these brilliant beach activities to your bucket list today and you will soon get your thrill fix.

Surfing

Surfing is one of those sports that takes a lot of practice to get it right. As a bystander on a beach you might watch those savvy surfers and think it’s super easy. If you were to get into one of their Xcel Wetsuits, you would most definitely be proved wrong in a flash. Now, this shouldn’t put you off from trying out surfing; as long as you have reasonable hand, eye coordination, you will probably do really well on the waves.

Look into surf instructors if you’re a complete newbie to surfing (I learnt to surf in Bali, where it was very affordable). You can start off slow and steady and first before you build up to a power stance on your beloved board. Don’t let anything put you off from trying surfing, although it often takes time to master, you might be a natural right away!

Swimming With Sharks

One of the most popular places to swim with sharks is Florida; one of the best beach destinations in the US. Although it sounds pretty terrifying, you’re not going to be immersed in a small tank with a great white! Most of the time you will be protected by a cage and be given full safety instructions before you start the experience. It’s truly a once in a lifetime opportunity, so you should definitely consider it next time you’re planning a getaway.

Snorkelling

A slightly more tame activity compared to swimming with sharks is swimming under water with the beautiful sealife. There’s no guarantee you won’t come across some friendly sharks though! If you’re visiting Australia, you have to snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef; the brightly colored coral, the fish and turtles are a spectacular scene you’ll never forget. I’ll certainly never forget the time I saw a turtle while snorkelling in Gili T, Indonesia.

Jet Skiing

There are so many reasons to try jet skiing the next time you’re near the beach. It’s the perfect thrill seeking activity that will give you a huge adrenalin rush as soon as you pick up speed. It’s normal to be slightly nervous the first time you head out on a jet ski, but as long as you have been properly briefed on the safety precautions you’ll have the best time out there!

Let’s face it, you have to be a fan of the ocean if you’re going to partake in these brilliant beach activities. If you don’t like getting your air wet, they’re probably not for you! Start digging deeper into these terrifically thrilling ideas and you will soon have your next five holidays planned out seamlessly. Make sure you take along a good friend or family member who can enjoy the fun with you too!
